Macleay Park Pavilion received funding to participate in City of Boroondara’s Diversity, Inclusion and Participation (DIP) program which seeks to provide a more inclusive environment, improved accessibility with greater participation opportunities to ensure women and girls in particular feel safe and welcomed when participating in sport. To achieve this the change rooms and their amenities were upgraded, a first aid room created, disabled car space enabled and sports stores built to enable the pavilion to operate in an engaging and functionally optimal manner. Change rooms were altered to include an ambulant toilet facility, enhanced privacy screens, acoustic linings, impact safe coat hooks, additional bench seating, extended basins with ledges, and shower seats. The works were designed to compliment and enhance the existing structure in an environmentally sustainable manner, respecting embodied energy, utilizing daylighting and introducing natural ventilation.
