life centre cafe, syndal

The café is situated front of house of the Life Centre as a linear inside-outside meeting space interconnecting people and activities with meeting rooms along its length and a childrens’ play area at one end.  A fully glazed northern façade floods the space with daylight and a series of folding doors provide connection to an outside terrace.  Polished concrete floors, expressed trabeated structure with suspended perforated acoustic panels over characterize the space.  The projecting coffee shop with its external servery and brightly finished interior provides a visual and active focus to the space.  At night the activation of suspended coloured fluorescent lighting hanging within the two storey void of the spine transforms the space into a distinctive nocturnal local urban identity.
